The lab is at 209 Kalamath St Unit 1, in Denver's Santa Fe Arts District, open weekdays by appointment. Colorado artists and collectors work with us here in person — and everyone else is welcome to visit, though nothing about the result depends on it.

What a visit looks like
An hour in the room, start to finish.
Booking through to the file being matched against your artwork — the sequence is the same whether you are standing here or your work arrived in a crate.
Book the time
The lab runs by appointment so the capture wall is set up for your work and not someone else's. Tell us what you are bringing — dimensions, how many pieces, framed or not — and we will book a slot with room for it.
The work goes up
Your piece goes on the capture wall under controlled, polarized light, squared to the camera. Framed work is captured as it arrives; unstretched or rolled pieces are flattened and weighted first.
Capture
Phase One XF IQ4 medium-format capture on Schneider optics, 151 megapixels at 16 bits per channel, referenced to a physical color target in the same light as the artwork.
Matched against the original
The file is compared against your artwork, in the room, and adjusted until they agree. This is the step most artwork photography skips — and the reason it is worth being here to watch it happen.
Getting here
Parking is free and the work comes in on the level.

No meters, no garage, no circling the block with a canvas in the back seat. Park and walk in.
A load-in ramp
Oversized, heavy, or crated work comes in on the level — no steps, no stairwell corners to negotiate. Tell us what you are bringing and we will meet you at it.
Unit 1, and we are expecting you
The lab shares 209 Kalamath St Unit 1 with photospace, our sister studio. Because everything runs by appointment, someone knows you are coming and the capture wall is already set up for your work.
Coming by light rail? The nearest stop is 10th & Osage. Bringing something that needs a hand at the door? Tell us before you set off and we will talk you in.
Before you come
Four things worth knowing.
Bring it as it is
Do not clean, retouch, or re-varnish anything for us. We would rather capture the work as it stands, and a fresh varnish can change how a surface reads under polarized light.
Glazing is worth removing
Polarized light handles most of what glass throws back, but the most faithful master still comes from capturing a piece unglazed. If the glazing comes off safely, bring it off. If it does not, tell us and we will plan around it.
Large or awkward work
Oversized, rolled, or heavy pieces need the setup planned before you arrive rather than worked out at the door. Send dimensions ahead and we will tell you what to expect — including whether collection makes more sense than carrying it.
You do not have to come at all
Artists across the country ship work to the lab, and the capture, the color matching, and the master are identical. Visiting is an option, not a requirement — and for a collection too large or fragile to travel, the lab comes to you instead.
